About MemoryGames
MemoryGames is a free, privacy-first online memory gym: 24 browser games modeled on the tasks used in cognitive-psychology labs and world memory championships, interactive technique guides, and a daily workout — with no account and nothing uploaded.
What we make
The site is built around a simple idea: the tasks psychologists use to measure memory — digit span, the Corsi block test, dual n-back, paired associates — are also excellent training, and they make better games than most games do. Every one of our 25 games is a playable version of a real task: classics like Number Memory and the Chimp Test, everyday-memory drills like Shopping List and Kim's Game, and full memory-sport events like Speed Cards, Speed Numbers and Chess Snapshot.
Around the games sit three supporting layers. The daily workout picks three games a day and takes about ten minutes. The interactive guides teach the memory palace, the Major System and Person–Action–Object — the techniques behind every memory record — as hands-on tutorials. And the blog covers the techniques and the science in depth. Progress tracking ties it together: every score, streak and personal best is charted over time.
Why it exists
Most "brain training" sites ask for an account, track you across the web, and promise more than the research supports. We wanted the opposite of each: no signup at all, scores that never leave your browser, and claims that stay inside what the evidence actually says. When a popular idea — photographic memory, IQ-boosting games — does not survive contact with the literature, we say so (see our article on whether photographic memory exists and our honest review of dual n-back research).
The methods themselves are genuinely old and genuinely effective: the memory palace is 2,500 years old, and the memory-sport events are scored exactly like their championship counterparts. Our contribution is packaging — making the real tasks instantly playable, in 35 languages, with the technique training built in beside them.
Privacy by architecture
There are no user accounts and no server-side profiles because nothing is ever uploaded. Your scores, streaks and settings live in your own browser's local storage, and you can export or delete them at any time from Settings. We run no analytics on gameplay and no tracking pixels. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
Who is behind it
MemoryGames is an independent project by a small team of developers and memory-sport enthusiasts. The games are our own implementation of public, well-documented psychological tasks; the guides are our own teaching of techniques that are centuries old; and the science pages cite the researchers whose work we rely on. If you spot an error — factual, mathematical or historical — we genuinely want to hear about it via the contact page.
Chess piece graphics in Chess Snapshot are the "Neo" piece set by Chess.com, reproduced from its public theme assets; the positions themselves are famous recorded games and classic named patterns from chess history.
How it is funded
The site is free and will stay free. When advertising appears, it will be clearly distinguishable from content, never disguised as games or buttons, and never placed to cause accidental clicks. If you would rather not see ads at all, every ad blocker works perfectly here — nothing on the site depends on them, and no functionality is ever locked behind them.
