About MemoryGames
MemoryGames is a free online memory gym: 25 games across three categories — working memory, everyday memory and memory sports — that run instantly in any modern browser. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for; your scores, streaks and personal bests are saved privately on your own device.
The games are modeled on the tasks used in cognitive-psychology labs and world memory championships — from the digit-span test that started it all to the method of loci behind every memory athlete's records. Whether you want a sharper everyday memory or just a personal best to beat, there is a game here for it.
Frequently asked questions
The short answers — everything else is one tap away.
What is MemoryGames?
MemoryGames is a free collection of 23 browser-based memory-training games — from classic psychology tests like digit span and the Corsi block task to full memory-sport events like Speed Cards, Chess Snapshot and the Memory Palace. Every score is saved privately in your browser, so you can watch your memory improve over time.
Do you have a photographic memory test?
Yes — Photographic Memory: study a richly detailed scene for exactly as long as you like, then answer questions about it from memory. One honest note: true photographic memory has never been demonstrated in anyone — what the game measures and trains is visual detail recall, the real skill behind those searches.
Do you have a chess memory game?
Yes — Chess Snapshot: a real position from chess history (Morphy's Opera Game, the Immortal Game, famous openings) flashes for a few seconds, and you rebuild it piece by piece on a full board. It is the same position-recall task the chess psychologist Adriaan de Groot used to study masters.
Are the memory games really free?
Yes — all 25 games, the daily workout, the interactive technique guides and the progress tracker are completely free. There is no account to create and no email address to give. You can install MemoryGames as an app from your browser's menu if you want it on your home screen.
Do memory games actually improve memory?
Regular, focused practice reliably improves performance on the tasks you train, and the techniques taught here — like the memory palace (method of loci) — are the same ones memory athletes use to memorize a shuffled deck of cards in minutes. The key is consistency: short daily sessions beat occasional marathons.
What is working memory?
Working memory is your mind's mental workspace — the ability to hold a few pieces of information in mind and use them at the same time, like remembering a phone number long enough to dial it. It is the engine behind focus, reasoning and learning, and games like Dual N-Back and Running Span train it directly.
How often should I train my memory?
The built-in daily workout picks three games a day — skipping the champion-level sports events — and takes about ten minutes. Doing it every day builds a streak and matches the spacing that memory research favors. A short, focused daily session beats a long session once a week.
Where is my progress stored?
Everything stays on your device. Scores, streaks and guide progress are saved in your browser's local storage — nothing is uploaded, and no account or personal data is required. You can export a backup file at any time from Settings and import it on another device.
