Names & Faces — free online memory game

About this game

The most useful memory superpower: put names to faces. Study the faces and their names, then prove you can recall them — shuffled, one at a time, spelling counts. This is the same event memory championships run.

How to play Names & Faces

  1. 1Study the faces and their names until time runs out, or leave early.
  2. 2The same faces return one at a time, in a new order — type each name.
  3. 3Score = names matched exactly (spelling counts, case doesn't).

What Names & Faces trains

Face–name binding is where most people feel their memory fail socially — the name was heard, not encoded. The trainable fix is forced association: link the name to one standout feature with a vivid image ('bald Bruce = a moose named Bruce'). Regular practice here makes the move automatic, and it transfers directly to real introductions.

Category: Memory sports · Scoring: Names in names · Modes: 8 faces, 16 faces, 32 faces

Tip: Link the name to a standout feature — “bald Bruce”, “curly Karen”. Weird is memorable.

How can I remember names better?

Use the feature-link method trained here: on hearing a name, attach it to the face's most distinctive feature with an exaggerated image, then use the name once in conversation within a minute. The link plus the rehearsal is why it sticks.

How is the Names & Faces event scored?

Like the championship: every correctly spelled name earns a point, case-insensitive. International memory championships score first names and surnames separately; this game counts the full name.

Is Names & Faces free?

Yes — Names & Faces is completely free, with no account, no signup and no downloads. Scores are saved privately in your browser, and you can install MemoryGames as an app from your browser menu if you want it on your home screen.
